Thabang Lehobye, a native of Soweto and nurtured amidst the vibrant settings of Evaton, Vaal, and Orange Farm, emerges as a trailblazing contemporary artist with an unwavering passion for experimentation. His artistic journey has led him to delve into the captivating realm of stop-motion animations, ingeniously employing acrylics and charcoal as his preferred mediums.


Embarking on his artistic odyssey at The Artists Proof Studio, Thabang found an irrefutable fascination with the bustling city of Johannesburg, which became a recurrent motif in his creations. This newfound love for his urban surroundings served as a muse for his boundless creativity.


Educationally adept, Thabang successfully earned a National Diploma in Fine Arts from the prestigious University of Johannesburg, honing his artistic prowess. Complementing his artistic finesse, he delved into the world of multimedia, pursuing specialized studies at the esteemed Vega School of Brand Communication.


Through dedication and talent, Thabang garnered recognition and support for his artistic endeavors. In 2005, he received patronage from Johnson and Johnson, a remarkable milestone that furthered his professional development at The Artists Proof Studio. A pivotal moment came in 2008 when he gained an endorsement from the renowned William Kentridge, solidifying his position as an emerging artist to watch.


Thabang's artistry knows no bounds, as he has actively participated in diverse collaborative exhibitions, fostering a spirit of collective creativity and artistic exploration. Additionally, he engaged in a transformative Professional Development Program at Artspace Gallery, alongside the esteemed Prof. Kim Berman, nurturing his talents even further.
